[Seasons of Love] In Cups of Coffee
Title: In Cups of Coffee
Chapter: 4/15
Pairings: KameDa, OhYass
Word count: 761 words
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Not mine, but I’d like an Ueda or Tegoshi for my birthday/Christmas please. A Kame or Shoon would also be acceptable. Heck, give me one and I’ll be happy.
Summary: How do you measure a year? JE’s seasons of love.
A/N: First multi-chapter. Tell me how I’m doing?
And each part in every chapter starts with ‘he’ but ‘he’ is a different person for each part (they’re separated, you’ll see); you’ll be able to tell who’s who. Comments are love~

Same place, ten minutes.

He didn’t even like coffee. He remembered that day, exactly: January 1. It was the day he was supposed to meet up with his cousin, some nomadic guy who could never seem to stay in the same country for more than a year. His cousin came back to Japan for the new year and wanted to see him. Although he rejected the invitation because of work, his cousin begged him.

“Kazuya, all you ever think about is work. Just take half an hour out of your workaholic life and talk. You need to stop once in a while and smell the roses. We haven’t even seen each other in years. Let’s meet at that coffee shop behind the convenience store we used to go to when we were little, 12:30. See you there!”

He sat in the crowded coffee shop alone. He should have expected it. His cousin always said more than he did.

“Sir, can I take your order?”

“Do you have any oolong tea?”

“Yes, coming right up.”

He stared absentmindedly at the wall. He didn’t bring his laptop because his cousin had told him he was forbidden to bring it. His tea arrived and he wondered if his cousin would even bother showing up. He knew this was a waste of his time, but he decided that he’d just stay until he finished his tea.

“Oolong tea in a coffee shop - rebellious.” A man walked up to him; he was tall and skinny and looked rather feminine. He suddenly broke into conversation. “Do you mind if I sit here? There’s nowhere else to sit.”

“No, go ahead.” He continued to stare aimlessly.

The other attempted again to strike up a conversation. “I’m Ueda Tatsuya. I’m a musician and a part-time professional boxer.”

“Oh.” He debated in his mind how he should respond. Should he introduce himself or just try to ignore Ueda altogether. If he ignored Ueda, then he’d keep trying to talking, but if he introduced himself, he might be out longer than he expected. “I’m Kamenashi Kazuya. I’m an actor and I also like boxing.”

“Ah! You’re the guy who played Hanata Kousaku in One Pound no Fukuin, right?”

“Yeah, wait. You’re the guy doing that concert. What was it called again… Mouse Peace, right?”

“Ah! Yes! If you’d like to come, I have a few spare tickets with me now.” He was handed three tickets. “Come with your friends.”

The two continue to talk about just about everything, from dramas to music to girls to boxing. By the time they left, it was already 5:00 pm; he drunk five glasses of tea and Ueda had drunk three large cups of coffee. They decided to continue their conversation at a nearby ramen shop. Ueda said it was his favourite; it was a family-run restaurant run by the family of Ueda’s friend, Koyama Keiichiro.

“Bring some coffee over, Keii. Kame here has been drinking tea all day.” He drank the coffee only to satisfy Ueda, but this time it was different. He didn’t feel the bitter aftertaste coffee usually left in his mouth.

Although he still doesn’t like coffee, but he legs had dragged him back to the coffee shop, where it all started. He remembered that day, exactly: January 1. The day he made a new friend, the day he drank good coffee, the day he was introduced to his now-favourite ramen shop, the day he fell in love.

It was the now only thing one of two things that could keep him going. The first, being coffee; the other being his Yassan, his shorter, blonder, and cuter counterpart.

Seeing Yassan’s face always made him smile, no matter whether the shorter man was happy, sad, or just showing no emotion at all. He made an effort to see Yassan’s face at least once everyday, which wasn’t too hard since they now lived together.

Well that’s what he likes to say. Truthfully, they were both students in the same residence house, except he was on the floor above Yassan. But technically they lived together, didn’t they?

And tonight would be another late night, staying up to finish an essay he had procrastinated over the holidays. He thought about handing it in late and receiving the 5% deduction penalty, but when Yassan came up to his floor with a coffee in hand, he knew he could finish the essay. Once he handed it in, he wouldn’t have to spend the next day on the essay instead of being with his Yassan. And so he did.

A/N cont.: I actually like the Kameda one ^___^~ I think the next chapter will be smut? (If you follow the song, you might see why.)
